Research on Active Clamping Technique for Flyback Converter

Abstract:

In view of the problems in flyback converter, transformer leakage leads to the switch tube need to bear greater stress, large energy loss, failure to recover leakage energy and low efficiency of power supply, this study investigates the active clamping technology of flyback converter, analyzes the working principle and working process of active clamping circuit in flyback converter. The advantages of introducing active clamping technology in flyback converter are described. Based on flyback converter design method, the design process of ACF(Active Clamp Flyback) is reviewed, a design case of ACF is given, and a prototype is made for testing. The test results show that the prototype realizes ZVS(Zero Voltage Switching) in the working process, and the efficiency is increased by about 3% when compared with the passive clamp flyback circuit. The research results show that the introduction of active clamping technology in flyback converter can effectively improve the voltage spike and energy loss caused by transformer leakage, reduce the voltage stress of switching tube, realize ZVS, and effectively improve the efficiency and stability of power supply system.
