摘要: 详细分析了采用AAL5和AAL3/4支持MPLS,实现VC合并过程中的交换时延差异. 以具有输出缓冲的交换机模型为基础,给出了交换时延统计平均的表达式,分析了合并因子(参与VC合并的信元所占的比例)与平均交换时延的关系. 用MATLAB对结果进行了仿真验证. 分析表明,在VC合并过程中,由于AAL3/4 PDU中具有MID域,在VC合并时无需等待收齐一个分组的所有信元,故而无论其平均交换时延还是对缓冲空间的需求都大大优于采用AAL5的情况.

Abstract: An analytical comparison of switching delays of AAL3/4 and AAL5 in VC merging for MPLS is presented. Based on the switching model with output buffers, an explicit expression of mean switching delay is given, and the relation between the merging factor(the proportion of the cells involved in VC merging) and the mean switching delay is discussed. Finally the result is verified by simulation using MATLAB. The analysis result indicates that, in VC merging, without the waiting requirement of gathering all cells belongings to a packet due to possession of MID field in the PDU format, the cells of AAL3/4 have a smaller mean dealy and the lower buffer demand than those of AAL5.
