Novel SNR estimation algorithm for OFDM systems

摘要: 根据无线OFDM通信系统中自适应控制处理的需求,针对Boumard方法的缺点,提出了一种基于前导符号的OFDM系统信噪比估计新方法.该方法充分利用了前导符号和无线信道的频率自相关特性,估计信号和噪声的平均功率,获得系统的平均信噪比.进一步利用信道估计系数,估计出各子信道的信噪比.仿真结果表明,该方法的估计性能优于Boumard方法,且在低信噪比时,估计精度提高了10倍以上.

Abstract: According to the requirements of the adaptive control in wireless OFDM systems and the weakness of Boumard’s method, a novel SNR estimation algorithm based on the preamble is proposed for OFDM systems. The average powers of signal and noise are estimated by making full use of the frequency autocorrelation characteristics of the received preamble data and the wireless channels, and thus the average SNR of the system is obtained. By using the estimated coefficients of the sub-channels, the SNR of each subchannel can also be obtained. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is better than that of Boumard’s method, and obtains an improvement by more than 10 times at the low SNR.
