Abstract: The key technologies of ION(intelligent optical networks) include signaling, routing and standardized optical interfaces. Standardization organizations involved in ION are ITU-T, IETF and OIF, which emphasize architecture, protocol and internetworking respectively. The ION based on SONET/SDH is more viable at the present stage.
