Abstract: A new full-reference video quality assessment method is presented. The image gradient reflects the spatial structure of the image and the correlation coefficient of the image reflects the activity masking characteristic of the human visual system. Therefore, the correlation coefficient of the gradient between the reference image and the distortion image is used to assess the distortion of image content, which is combined with the luminance distortion to obtain the image quality. Experimental results illustrating the performance of the proposed method are presented and evaluated.
