Abstract: A coupled volume-surfaced integral equation is presented for the calculation of electromagnetic scattering from metallic and dielectric targets. In the method of moments(MoM) solution to the integral equations, the target is discretized using triangular patches for metallic surfaces and tetrahedral cells for dielectric volume. According to the characteristics of the impedance matrix, a simple effective method is presented to improve the convergence of the iterative algorithm. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate the efficiency of the method.
