Research on Rainfall-induced Cross-polarization in Ku-waveband Satellite Communication

Abstract:

The mechanism and effects of cross-polarization induced by rainfall in the Ku-waveband is discussed.Based on the ITU-R prediction model and parameters of the Ap-6,134 °E,Ku-waveband satellite,the cross-polarization attenuation quantity is calculated at 12 GHz with the rainfall data of Guangzhou,Nanjing,Changchun,and Xi'an.In order to compensate for the attenuation caused by cross-polarization,two polarization compensation networks are put forward with desirable effect.
